Sermon Notes

In our small group study Christian by Andy Stanley, he dwells a lot on the fact that the Christian life is to be a life of love. But he doesn’t really get too specific as to what that love looks like.

In a message in February we saw that the New Testament word used to describe God’s love for us and our love for others is the word “agape”. Agape love is an unconditional, self-giving, sacrificial, other person centered love that is not based on our feelings or emotions but is an act of the will. It is a choice we make. But a choice to do what?

This morning we are looking at how Paul describes love in 1 Corinthians 13:4-6. “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.”
