Sermon Notes

As we continue with our series Total Forgiveness based on R.T. Kendall’s book, the theme of today’s message is whether it is okay to judge other people or not. We are looking at the information found in chapters 4 and 5 of the book entitled Playing God and When Are We Right to Judge?

We make judgments, we weigh the information and then make a decision, all the time. Some judgments are necessary and healthy: like a boss judging who should get a promotion, a person weighing the alternatives as to what car to buy, which college or trade school to attend, or which career path to take.

But there’s another kind of judgment that is not right. It is being overly critical, quick to blame, condemning, and judgmental towards another person. This is the kind of judging Jesus has in mind when He commands us “Do not judge or you too will be judged.”
