Sermon Notes

Today’s message, entitled “The Prayer of Surrender”, is the second message in our series “Getting to Know God: The Lord’s Prayer.” We saw last week that the main purpose of Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 6:9-13 was not so much to give us a word for word prayer to recite but an outline of what to include in our prayer times.

In the phrase, “Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name” Jesus encourages us to begin our prayer by reflecting on and worshipping God for who He is as our loving, caring Abba Father as well as His other attributes. In vs. 10, “Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” we will define what God’s kingdom is and the importance of surrendering to His will and purposes for our lives.
