Sermon Notes

Unless we have been to an impoverished area of another country like Africa, India, Haiti, or even parts of United States like Appalachia, it can be so difficult for us in suburbia to relate to families in poverty. Worldwide, 600 million children live in extreme poverty with a family income of less than $1.90 a day. Almost half the world, over 3 billion people, live on less than $2.50 a day. Many in America spend more than that a day at Dunkin’ Donuts or Starbucks for a single cup of coffee.

Today we’re looking at God’s compassion for the poor and His calling on the lives of His followers to have compassion for them as well. We will also be highlighting the ministry of Compassion International and the great difference sponsoring a child can make in their life and their family’s lives.
