“The Star – A Journey of Joy”
So far in our Advent series entitled The Star: a Journey to Christmas, we have seen that in order to prepare our hearts well to celebrate Christ this Christmas season, it is important to realize that we are on a journey of hope and a journey of love. Last week we looked at the agape love of God and how He commands us to love others with the same unconditional, undeserved, sacrificial, gift of love that He has for us.    Today we will also see that this journey is to be a journey of joy. In the Bible, great joy is one of the most prominent themes related to the birth of Christ. It is seen in many of the Christmas carols. But is God’s church, are God’s people today in America, really seen by non-Christians as a people who exude tremendous joy?    We will see where our joy ultimately comes from and how we can live a journey of joy through a personal relationship with God through Christ.

“The Star – A Journey of Love”
This is the second message in our Advent Series entitled The Star: A Journey to Christmas. Last week we saw that this journey to Christmas, and the daily journey of a follower of Christ, is to be one of hope. God has given us the resources of His Word, the Bible, His people, and His presence to give us hope - to encourage, strengthen, and comfort us in the struggles that we go through in this life.    Today we will see that this Journey to Christmas is also a journey of love. After looking at four different kinds of biblical love, we will focus on the agape love that God has for us. Then we will see how we can walk the journey of love, striving to love others as God loves us, which He calls us to.

“The Star – A Journey of Hope”
This morning we are beginning a new message series entitled The Star – A Journey to Christmas. Over 2000 years ago, a star shone brightly through the darkness and signaled the long-awaited, yet still unexpected, birth of the Savior. The true light, Jesus, came into the darkness and pain of our world.    That world in the 1st century, just like ours in the 21st century, including our lives, needs the light of Christ to illuminate, clarify, guide, and heal. In a season often marked by frenzied busyness, the Advent season is an opportunity to set aside time to prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ.    In this series we will look at how Jesus desires to be our Hope, our Love, our Joy and our Peace.
